Moore, IMHO, Is Akin To Your Neighbor Who Talks To Themselves

Kelly McParland: Michael Moore discovers that top 1% of rich are richer than rest of rich

A National Post reader in Okotoks, Alberta wrote a letter this week raising an issue I've been wondering about myself. It has to do with Michael Moore's oft-repeated assertion that the top 1% of the U.S. rich have more financial wealth than the bottom 95% combined.

Unlike many Post readers, I'm not wildly offended by Moore. He's a polemicist who argues his position without paying much attention to inconvenient counter-arguments. He's selective about facts. As Deborah Young of Reuters wrote: "Simplifications are Moore’s stock-in-trade, and his documentaries are not known for their impeccable research". He strikes me as largely harmless, though. He makes his points by wrapping yellow crime-scene tape around Wall Street finance houses, or yelling at office windows through a bullhorn. He's probably as wealthy as many of his targets, but lives in Traverse City, Mich. and dresses like a bum. His films argue that: GM was badly managed, U.S. healthcare needs improvement and people on Wall Street are greedy. True, true and true. So what's the big deal?
