Anyone Out There Not Want Be A Capitalist?

The downside is that you have to take chances, be innovative, work you butt off, make hard unpopular decisions, etc. For many, too any, it is easier, but not as rewarding, to line up at the trough.

If you want to meet a confirmed capitalist, talk to a reformed left winger.

Bob Rae is the MP for Rosedale, the wealthy downtown Toronto enclave where the average family income is close to $150,000.

The Washington Post reported that Bill Clinton earned US$31 million between 2001 and 2005 in speaking fees. Clinton earned $775,000 for delivering two speeches in Toronto in 2005, almost as much as he was paid for his eight years as President. According to CNN Clinton charges $300,000 to $350,000 to address anyone who can afford it, though he also does a lot of free speaking and charitable fundraising as well.

And Canwest's Randy Boswell reports that Tony Blair, the former Labour Party prime minister who won three majority governments in Britain, charges north of $175,000 a speech, and has hit on the idea of charging an additional fee for posing with the rabble:
