John Ivison: Weary of Teflon Man, Ontario voters eye Little Mike

Andrea Horwath, the bubbly new leader of the Ontario NDP, was asked recently what she considered Dalton McGuinty's biggest accomplishment. "He's been Teflon for the last five years and it's only recently that the Teflon has started wearing off," she said in an interview Tuesday.

A new poll by Nanos Research suggests Ms. Horwath is on to something and that Ontario's voters may be starting to get tired of seeing Mr. McGuinty around.

The poll puts the Ontario Liberals and Progressive Conservatives in a statistical dead heat - 37% support for the Liberals versus 35% for Tim Hudak's PC Party and 17% for the NDP. However, the trend lines will make uncomfortable reading for the Premier -- his party is down 10 points since the last Nanos poll in May, while the number of Ontarians who think Mr. McGuinty makes the best premier is down to 27% from 42%.
