The People Speak Out But.....

.....no one is listening

NO MORE GIFTS, THANKS

Re "HST a gift, Grits boast" (Nov. 17): Who does Dwight Duncan think he's kidding? It is a gift alright, to Liberal coffers from our pockets, without our permission. If I remember correctly, after Dalton McGuinty's first electoral win with promises he would not raise our taxes, then-finance minister Greg Sorbara hit us with the health tax of the century -- $600 to $900 per family per year -- to help us get better and more efficient health care. That money however went into general revenue, and our health care system is still broken. The HST will go into general revenue and will be lost in generosity to those who walk and talk Liberal.

SEEING OUR FUTURE

Is Dalton ("I won't raise your taxes") McGuinty psychic or just a great financial planner? After promising not to raise taxes, he hits us with a health "premium" whopper. Who knew there would be a billion-dollar eHealth boondoggle to finance? Now he gives us the HST, which is about to skim the rest of the dollars we poor taxpayers try to shelter. But he has relented and given us a $4 coffee and doughnut break. Is this what you call throwing the peons a crumb? We owe you Dalton. And the way you are taxing us, we are about to owe everybody else.

DUNCAN HER DOUGHNUT

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the "generosity" of our provincial government for exempting coffee and doughnuts from the HST list. The pompous Dwight Duncan seems to think he is doing us a huge favour. Well, Duncan and Dalton McGuinty, the best favour you could do us would be to get out of our government and take your HST with you. The people of Toronto and surrounding areas need to gather en masse at Queen's Park and Premier McGuinty should show himself. We are entitled to see the face of the person robbing us.

(McGuinty's argument that the people of Ontario can have their say on the HST in the next election is horsebleep. Once a new tax comes in, it's not coming out. For proof, see GST)
