She was well aware of the dark role violence plays in American politics. Gabrielle Giffords, the energetic young Arizona Democrat gravely wounded in a shooting rampage, had been threatened more than once. Her office had been smashed.
...it was a horrific act by an individual for what ever reason BUT LET'S NOT FORGET SOME OF OUR HORRIFIC INCIDENTS:
Concordia University massacre
École Polytechnique massacre
Shell Lake murders
Mayerthorpe incident
