Cherry blossom and assault rifles: Says Bill Taylor, armed soldiers routinely patrol parts of security-conscious Paris. This trio interrupted a bridal party having their portraits taken before a picturesque backdrop. I did some shooting myself but, though one of the soldiers saw me, no one shot back, not even words.
Or as someone — I’m not sure who — once notably put it: “An artist has no time to ask; he simply takes.”
Okay, so you may not be an artist; let’s say, you’re an enthusiastic amateur looking for something beyond happy vacation snapshots.
But the more you’re drawn into it and the more your eye sharpens and your skills and ambition increase, the question of what is and isn’t acceptable has to be faced.
