Overnight Violence Across GTA Keeps Authorities Busy

Police across the GTA had their hands full overnight following a series of violent incidents, one of which left a man on life support. It was a freak injury sustained in a fight near Spadina and Dundas that left the individual clinging to life. The confrontation occurred between two men at Dragon City Mall at about 11:30pm Wednesday. The man was struck by a punch, collapsed, and hit his head as he fell. It was apparently that impact that left him in critical condition in hospital. Police have a suspect in custody in connection with the fight.

The hot temperatures appear to have caused heated tempers in another part of the city, as a fight between two men near Dufferin and St. Clair sent two men to hospital. One sustained serious stab wounds, and the other suffered cuts to the face. It's not known at this point whether one man or both will be charged.

Officers were called to the intersection of Dundas and Pembroke at about 1:30am Thursday after a serious scuffle between a man and a woman. The woman was taken into custody after the man was apparently stabbed in the face with the jagged edge of a broken beer bottle. The victim's face and ear had to be stitched up.

And finally, another man was seriously hurt after being beaten outside Pacific Mall near Steeles and Kennedy. York Regional Police are still looking at what happened, and no arrests have been made. The victim was taken to hospital at about 9pm Wednesday.
