Jack Layton's decision to throw his lot in with the government may turn out to be a poisoned chalice, which he has poured for himself. Or it could mark a turning point in his party's flagging fortunes. Either way, it has certainly put him back in the centre of action leading up to the next election.

If Harper caves in on all the issues put forward by the environuts and leftists in general does that mean they will all vote Conservative at the next election?
