A 25-year-old Toronto man is on life support after he was shot in the city's east end on Friday afternoon.
Police said the man was at his friend's home on Wilcox Creek Pathway, near Finch Avenue East and Morningside Drive, when he was shot at about 12:40 p.m.
Investigators said two suspects knocked at the front door, pushed aside a mother and her child who answered the door and then ran upstairs and shot the victim.
The suspects, who covered their faces with balaclavas, fled the scene on foot.
The victim was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Police said he was targeted.
"I describe it as some sort of beef ... and the suspects knew who they were looking for," said Insp. David Saunders, without releasing any more details.
The woman and child were frightened by the incident, but not hurt.
Police have not released the victim's name or descriptions of the suspects.
