It Never Ends......

Desperate Times Call for Desperate Liberals

Let me just give a little backgrounder here. My little street in Barrie, actually, 8 house court, was full of people who moved away from the craziness of Toronto. Some moved for a nicer place for their kids to grow up, others used it for a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke. I did it for all of the above..oh, and the craziness that is the Torontonian political mind.

Anyway, almost everyone on the street had a Conservative sign on their lawn last election. Why? Well, most people who move away from Toronto know why.

Anyway, a knock on the door came today from our favourite neighbourhood Liberal pre-campaign campaign, no doubt testing the waters before Dion forces us to the polls.

I don’t know if he was the candidate, a volunteer, or a representative from the Liberal riding association, but he was ignorant as sin. This guy started arguing and was downright rude with those who told him their preference was with the Conservative Party and Patrick Brown. A sample of his words, other than the outright dismissal of an opposing view and disgusting attitude taken when hearing that someone supporter Harper?

“Patrick Brown? And all the money being spent?? Pfffft.”

Yeah, bozo. All the money being spent. All the money being spent recruiting doctors to the city. All the money being raised and dumped into the Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at the hands of this FEDERAL MP (gee, Dalton, where are you?). All the money being spent into conservation grants. All that money NOT being spent into some half-cocked Carbon Tax scheme.

I really wish I was home to see this guy off my property. That would have been a blog post and a half, but nonetheless, it’s a really telling story of how much contempt Liberals have for those who disagree with them.

I don’t know if anyone else has had a similar experience with Liberal blowhards (other than on the blogs) but it’s really not surprising.

Go back to your bridge, troll! You have no power here!

Return of The Trusty Tory

The Skinny said...

oh you mean the cancer care center that the federal liberal government and the mcguinty government went ahead with back in 2005? Glad you brought it up.

It was liberal MP Aileen Carroll and McGuinty that planned and approved plans for building this.

I'm glad to see that the tory MP is stepping up to ensure it continues.

idiot.

oh, if you have google skills, this turns up:

"The McGuinty government investment will replace or upgrade equipment for the following cancer centres:

-Juravinski Cancer Centre, Hamilton
-Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, Kingston
-Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, Kitchener
-London Regional Cancer Program, London
-Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre, Ottawa
-Northeastern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, Sudbury
-Northwestern Ontario Regional Cancer Centre, Thunder Bay
-University Health Network's Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto
-Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre, Toronto
-Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, Windsor

There are 11 cancer centres across Ontario, which provide cancer patients with quality care and a seamless access to health care services. These cancer centres are the sole providers of radiation therapy for cancer patients in Ontario.

Radiation wait times have steadily improved because of investments in cancer centres, new equipment and better planning. Median radiation wait times have dropped from 6.6 weeks in 2003 to 4.1 weeks in 2006 - a 38 per cent reduction. From spring 2005 to spring 2006, wait times for radiation treatment were reduced by 11per cent.

"We're very pleased with this funding for enhancements to our Radiation Treatment Program," says Cliff Nordal, President and Chief Executive Officer, London Health Sciences Centre. "It represents the commitment of the Ministry and Cancer Care Ontario to ensuring our program can continue to provide excellence in cancer care to our patients."

"The government's commitment to modernize radiation equipment is critical to our ability to detect and treat cancer sooner," said Terrence Sullivan, President & CEO, Cancer Care Ontario. "This investment will directly benefit thousands of cancer patients in communities across the province."

This is just the latest example of the McGuinty government's commitment to fighting cancer. Other initiatives include:

-Investing $152.1 million to fund nineteen cancer fighting drugs, including Velcade and Herceptin -A $19.8 million investment to developing new and expanded programs at five cancer centres, to support 13,693 chemotherapy treatments, 41,004 radiation therapy treatments and 53,567 additional assessment and follow-up cancer services -Improving cancer care for women by investing in new technology and equipment for cervical screening.

The initiative is part of the McGuinty government's plan for innovation in public health care, building a system that delivers on three priorities - keeping Ontarians healthy, reducing wait times and providing better access to doctors and nurses."
