U.S. President Barack Obama called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims" Thursday and said together, they could confront violent extremism across the globe.

Today: Expectations are running impossibly high for Barack Obama’s first official trip to the Middle East as U.S. President. His itinerary includes meetings with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and President Hosni Mubarak, of Egypt, but its centrepiece is his promised address to the Muslim world — he is scheduled to speak at Cairo University on Thursday.
On the eve of the long-awaited speech, Arabs and Muslims have a long wish list, from bringing peace to the region to fixing problems with visas. Commentators in Arab newspapers recognize there is no way Mr. Obama can satisfy all these demands, but give him kudos for trying anyway. Ordinary Arabs are not so understanding.

Someone needs to set him straight that Muslims and Islam are the enemy, not our friend, and that, is the only way to deal with it.
