How about a four day week....forty hours in four ten hour days...a three day weekend every week.
There’s a move in that direction already in the US. The state of Utah has its employees on a four day week with Friday off. There are some other scattered experiments.
It saves energy, not only in less travel but in offices that are shut down a full extra day.
So what’s an extra two hours a day? Nothing really. But an extra one day a week!!!. That is something.
Actually the worker on such a schedule actually comes out ahead in some cases. I’m thinking of somebody who has an hour commute each way. Or who pays bus or train fare. They gain two hours a week and they pay for one ...
