Praise for TTC
With all the negative publicity the TTC has faced in recent weeks, I would like to express a contrary point of view. As a commuter from Durham, I am not a regular passenger on the TTC. I am a teacher in Scarborough, and organized a recent trip to the Ontario Science Centre for approximately 150 students. We had planned on travelling on the TTC, and as a courtesy called the TTC Customer Service office to let them know there would be an unusual number of riders on Eglinton Ave. that morning. I assumed the call might result in perhaps an extra bus along the line. Much to our school’s surprise, however, we got a call shortly before our departure informing us a supervisor was waiting with a bus (and another to follow 15 minutes later) at the corner. The bus took our group directly to the Science Centre with no stops along the way, bypassing Kennedy Station and dropped us directly in the parking lot at the Science Centre. Later that day, one of our teachers received a call to inform us two buses would be waiting in the parking lot to return us to our school. We were driven right to the front door of the school, which is not on a bus route. The public needs to be as quick to compliment as it is to complain. I would like to specifically thank Matt Turner, Al at Console 101, the supervisor and the drivers.

The TTC has captured interest and headlines over the past few months — mostly for the wrong reasons.
