 The federal opposition parties want to continue to exploit significant public dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Stephen Harper's decision last December to prorogue Parliament and, now that Parliament is back in session, they plan to keep that issue as much as possible in front of the public. NDP Leader Jack Layton this morning tried to convince Commons Speaker Peter Milliken that he ought to convene an "emergency debate" in the House on the issue of prorogation. Judy Rebick may be very well intentioned and a fine human being, but she's an ideologue from the distant periphery of the Canadian left, and if you ask her a question you don't have to wait for the answer. You already know what it's going to be.

Put Judy Rebick on a task force into ethnic or sexual discrimination and she's going to find some. Doesn't matter whether it exists or not, or where she's looking: her own living room, two kittens eating breakfast, a field of daisies -- Rebick will discover worrying signs of gender bias and racial inequity. Look at the way the kitten on the left keeps hogging the best bits! And it's a male kitten! Typical.

So you only make Judy Rebick a member of your committee if you already want the answer she's certain to give. Or if you want to find discrimination whether or not it really exists. Or if you haven't got a clue what Judy Rebick is all about.
