Mayor's Final Budget Passes

Its official - your property taxes will go up by 2.9 per cent.

City council has passed this year's operating budget by a majority vote.

After a week of urging from Giorgio Mammoliti, the city will develop a plan to exempt low-income seniors and the disabled from the vehicle registration tax. This is expected to come as early as next year.

Minor tweaks were made to Parks, Forestry and Recreation and Finance and Administration.

This is being hailed as David Miller's Legacy budget - his last as Mayor - with a focus on balancing the budget over two years and economic growth in the city.

It has been 18 months since they were created — with $10 million in seed money — and so far all Build Toronto and Invest Toronto can show is two partially realized websites.

City budget is approved and Miller is spent

It’s the last $9.2 billion that Mayor David Miller will oversee spending.
