Mandatory bilingualism also unfair
I agree whole heartedly with your view that the government should put an end to the discriminatory hiring policies under the iniquitous but Orwellian named Employment Equity Act, favouring designated groups rather than individual merit for employment in government service.
I would add that the government should also do away with the bilingualism requirements in many civil service positions that favour Quebecers over English speaking Canadians.

Michael Ignatieff’s position on race-based affirmative action programs calls into question his ability to lead this country. Ignatieff is quoted as saying in a Canadian Press article that “We believe each Canadian has the right to participate in the public service”, yet he supports affirmative action programs that explicitly deny some Canadians the right to apply for some public service jobs. If Ignatieff believes that all Canadians should be treated equally, why isn’t he embracing the non-discriminatory approach that the government is proposing? Read More
