"Penny wise and pound foolish" describes David Miller's financial follies perfectly. On one hand, he tries to cut corners in critical areas such as public services, while on the other, he throws money away without a second thought.
I am not normally a union supporter, but in this instance the union should not bear the brunt of the mayor's fiscal irresponsibility. Miller has wasted countless tax dollars by giving money to Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment for a new soccer stadium, by donating the proceeds from the sale of plastic bags to retail stores, by giving raises to councillors, by hiring unnecessarily, and now wants to spend $300 million or more on tearing down the Gardiner Expressway.
