I Am With Don Cherry On This One

Don Cherry On The Offensive With Stephen Colbert

Don Cherry was in a fighting mood as the guest speaker on Stephen Colbert Day in Oshawa, Ontario, on Tuesday, March 20. "I didn't know if he was left wing, but somebody told me this afternoon he's a left-wing pinko, and you'd expect a left-wing pinko not to show up and face the music after starting something," the Quiznos fan said of The Colbert Report host. As if that wasn't insulting enough, Don spit out, "He wears a visor too, I think." We don't know what that means, but it sounds pretty humiliating.

Stephen was given his own day after the OHL team, the Oshawa Generals, lost a bet to the Saginaw Spirit, whose mascot, Steagle Colbeagle the Eagle, had caught Stephen's attention. If they'd won, Stephen would have worn an Oshawa Generals jersey on-air. But that didn't happen, so instead the mayor's birthday was declared Stephen Colbert Day. Three thousand people attended the party at the General Motors Centre.

In a taped message, Stephen continued to taunt the city. "Bold, innovative, vibrant: none of these words have been applied to the city of Oshawa," he said. "But how about these words: beaver pelt." Ouch! You know Don Cherry is going to be lurking on a dark side street with a broken bottle of Molson Canadian with Stephen's name on it after that.

Rosie Overdosing On Massengil

Don't Make Rosie Raise Her Hand!
It was like the House of Commons if it was run by monkeys on The View on Tuesday, March 20. Lefty Lucy Rosie O'Donnell and Rightie Tightie Elisabeth Hasselbeck rumbled while the guest struggled to speak. Rory Kennedy, a filmmaker who had directed a documentary called The Ghosts of Abu Ghraib about the Americans who photographed Iraqi prisoners in humiliating situations, was the guest but after a string of politically charged statements from Elisabeth, Rosie lifted her hand and said, "Ok, Elisabeth, you have to stop. You can ask a question but you can't just blather on your opinion." Definitely a new rule for The View.

When Elisabeth insisted she had asked a question but was cut off by Rosie, Rosie said, "What you're trying to say is what happened is just based on these few bad apples and what her whole entire film showed was that it was orchestrated by our own government and condoned by them. And you saw it twice. So if you have a question, ask her." Elisabeth: "I asked her the question." Rosie: "Should we torture people? She said no." Elisabeth: "At high levels." The Guest: "I would say in terms of the question..." Elisabeth: "Finish... answering my question!" Anyway, they really need to call in the reinforcements for Elisabeth.

It is understandable....even the stoutest of men would be taken aback if attacked by an overweight, hysterical butch.
