"not a damn thing has actually been done about it"

I don't disagree that Canadian indians, to a large extent, have problems but for RPW to say that "not a damn thing has actually been done about it" is at the least dramatic or the best ill informed. Billions have been poured into the indian affairs, $9 Billion in this budget, and I keep asking how much actually gets to the people and how much goes to the bureaucracy and the Indian Chiefs.

Crocodile Tears

On CBC Radio's "The House" (9:00 AM, Saturdays)
http://www.cbc.ca/thehouse/thisweek.html it was mentioned that a succession of Prime Ministers, including Brian Mulroney, Paul Martin, and now (apparently) Stephen Harper, have been "very concerned" about the poverty and disparities between Canada's aboriginal people. That "concern" has managed to stretch itself over the last 20+ years, and not a damn thing has actually been done about it.

Will this latest "initiative" be any different? Or is this just more crocodile tears?
