You Need To Learn Millerese

Public input sought on slew of climate initiatives

Translated this means that when Miller fails once again he will say he followed the advice of the public. Remember Toronto Speaks. Remember the New Broom? Remember more transparency at City Hall? It is almost as if Miller is getting ready to take over from McGinty as the leader of the provinccial fiberals.

Would you pay more to register your motor vehicle?

No!

Use a push lawn mower instead of electric or gas?

I am sure that 75 year old senior, who trys to keep his property presentable, will love the excercise.

How about installing a new energy-efficient boiler or furnace?

I am on a fixed income. Where do I get the $2500-$3000?

What if the goal of doing all these things was helping to reduce greenhouse gases?

Those are some of the suggestions being put forward in Toronto Mayor David Miller's new "framework'' to address climate change.

Called "Change is in the Air,'' the 27-page glossy report represents Phase 1 of Miller's overall climate strategy. On April 29, citizens will get to tell City Hall politicians and staff what they think about the ideas in the report.

There's no money or legislation being discussed at this point to make all these changes.

Rather, the man some refer to as the "green mayor'' yesterday put forward what he calls some "bold ideas,'' and he wants the public to help him draft an action plan for improving the environment.
