TORONTO (CP) - Experts say the Ontario election battle being waged in cyberspace is decidedly nastier than what voters are seeing on the campaign trail.
Ryerson University Internet expert Greg Elmer says both the Liberals and Progressive Conservatives are dominating the web though their tactics are much different.
He says the Liberals are playing hard ball, posting largely negative attack ads about Conservative Leader John Tory under a variety of aliases.
Meanwhile, he says the Conservatives have taken an uncharacteristically playful approach - slamming the Liberals on YouTube using a Simpson's parody, for example.
Tory is also playing up his technological savvy with links to the video-sharing website and Facebook on his official campaign site.
Elmer says the NDP's bizarre "Get Orange" campaign is all but absent from the web, possibly because its support base has typically favoured grassroots activism over Internet politics.
