1) Unregistered handguns are already banned and there are severe penalities for possession of an unregistered handgun but I don't see your buddy at Queen's Park ordering the crowns and judges to start handing out these stiffer sentences.
2) Look at just two of the high profile murders in the last year and knives were used in both cases.
3) I don't see you publicly coming out and asking that bail be denied in all offences where guns are used.

Two men accused of gunning down an innocent man outside a Yonge Street bar were denied bail in court today.
They were remanded in custody until their next court appearance scheduled for later this month.
Their family and friends were also in court but would not speak with reporters. The lawyers for the accused also declined comment.
A young woman began sobbing loudly when the two accused were brought into the courtroom in handcuffs.
The two men who are in their twenties are accused of killing John O'Keefe, a 42-year-old father who just happened to be passing by a downtown strip club at the time shots were fired.
O'Keefe was shot in the head in front of the Brass Rail after a night out with friends. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say a bouncer who worked at the club was the intended target. O'Keefe was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.
The men were arrested following the fatal shooting early Saturday morning.
Calls for a gun ban
The shooting prompted renewed calls for a ban of guns in Toronto.
"Handguns need to be banned period. No exemptions. No collectors. No loopholes. Ban them," said Toronto Mayor David Miller.
"Yes, I'm angry. We can take steps in the legislature. The federal legislature isn't taking those steps. We can do them. Canadians want them done," Miller said.
