The Charade Strike
Posted 7/27/2009 5:14:00 PMIf anything positive comes out of the charade that was the Toronto Civic Strike of 2009, and there's not a whole lot of positive news for the city's widening deficit, it would be the massive wakeup call issued to the taxpayers.
You're not "the stakeholder" or "the boss". You're just "the money". Shut up and hand it over.
Union picket boss Bill Steele confirmed to me this morning that the strike has ended without any concessions from the workers. When I pressed him to name at least one "win" for the city he suggested his 36 days of lost pay was a concession.
Don't worry Bill. There's plenty of overtime ahead.
CUPE may be playing a game of rhetoric by insisting they're signing the same deal they offered the city in March which, if true, would be a deal the Mayor insisted was unaffordable. Maybe, just maybe, there has actually ...

Personally, I'll wait til I get the 'facts'. You, those things you seems to dislike so much. When they're presented, you don't publish the comment. Remember how you said you'd publish everything?
You don't. Try 50%. And even then, you don't respond when facts are presented. You only respond that there are no facts. You're too predictable. Typical troll behavior Walter. Serves no purpose.
If Miller caved to give exactly what union demand, I will not vote for him next election. Nor will many others.
If he did in fact dig in his heels, and save the city money, then I'd say he did well. You'd NEVER cop to that though in your lifetime. EVER.
Of course, you perhaps hadn't thought that perhaps the union needs to spin this as a success either did you...
