Harmonization Brings Little Harmony

Is that a smug little smile creeping across Dalton McGuinty's lips?

The Ontario Premier has been under pressure since he agreed to harmonize Ontario's provincial sales tax with the federal GST. Opposition to harmonization was a central theme in the recent competition to replace John Tory as Ontario Progressive-Conservative leader, with candidates agreeing Dalton was sending the province straight to hell in a handbasket.

But now British Columbia says it will move to a 12% harmonized tax next July 1, the day as Ontario. And what are they using to justify the move? Why, because Ontario's doing it, and B.C. can't be left behind:
