We disagree with mayor-elect Rob Ford on most issues, but he has our support on at least one front — declaring the TTC an essential service, with labour disputes to be settled by binding arbitration. The Star believes that the TTC is so vital to our economy -- and to low-income residents, seniors and students who have no alternative means of travel -- that TTC workers should not have the right to strike.

...so city council is wasting it's time asking him and they will have to wait until next year when he goes skulking back to Ottawa.
