If Democracy Has A Failing...

...it is that its citizenry is allowed to make decisions on who will look after its interests and they are allowed to make similiar mistakes for another four years.

"Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and gave him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the 'new, wonderful, good society' which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean: more money, more ease, more security, more living fatly at the expense of the industrious." -- Marcus Tullius Cicero

As will not be a surprise to SDA regulars, the "Math Is Hard" crowd are coincidentally also not very knowledgeable about history. So tonight, as a "teachable moment", we offer a brief lesson on Bread and Circuses (and learn that eventually 175 days each year became public holidays).

You're welcome to leave some new reader tips or you can just focus your energies on getting a good rest.

About Me

My photo
I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
