Low key but steely in intent, supersmart and bursting with energy, this enviro has managed a year of accomplishments despite his personal tragedy. Layton, host of Bike with Mike, fought the removal of the Jarvis bike lanes, campaigned for truck side-guards to protect cyclists, pushed for the Air Rail Link to become a local commuter line and is now organizing opposition to a T.O. casino. A White Ribbon guy, the councillor took back the block with women in Christie Pits, stopped the teardown of posters trying to ease fears and ordered a park safety audit. As an anti-global-warming social entrepreneur, a rarity at City Hall, Layton is busily engineering a new home retrofit loan program.

...btw mike's dad made Toronto. not the suburbs, a Nuclear Free Zone and I don't recall NOW reporting on any nuclear attacks in Toronto.
