Nothing earth shattering with this revalation but the thing I find ironic is the people who have become disillusioned with McGinty are the ones that really believed that a liberal would really make any positive changes and would keep promises. This is just another case of where a group who expected to be first in line at the trough found nothing in the trough that met their expectations.
September 19, 2006 - 12:42pmSilvana Aceto (CFRB News) A new poll shows Ontarians feel that Premier Dalton McGuinty is breaking another election promise.
The survey done for the Canadian Federation of Students and the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations finds that Ontarians feel betrayed by the McGuinty government's plan to increase tuition fees.
"These poll results show that Ontarians believe that McGuinty has broken his contract with the people of the province and charted a course that will undermine access to college and university," Jesse Greener, the Chair of the Canadian Federation of Students, said
"Cancelling the tuition fee freeze, after only two years, has put the Liberal government out of step with the voters," Greener added.
The survey also found that most Ontarians do not see any improvement in the quality of post secondary education.
"The student-faculty ratio in the province remains the worst in Canada," Michael Doucet, the president of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations, said.
In the past two weeks, 30,000 Ontario students have signed a petition calling for a return to last year's tuition fee levels.
