More Hypocricy From The Left

Stephen Harper's "battle" with the Chinese Communists IMO will accomplish little. The fact is over the last 13 years we allowed ourselves to get into bed with the Chinese to the point where we are the ones who have to get out of bed on a cold morning to get them their tea.

Opposition leader Bill Graham is taking Prime Minister Stephen Harper to task over the issue of the on-off-on-again meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao. The meeting, requested by the Chinese authorities and scheduled to occur during the APEC summit in Vietnam, was cancelled by the Chinese as a way of showing displeasure at Stephen Harper's criticism of China's miserable human rights record.

The Liberals are trying to spin this as an example of how unsophisticated Stephen Harper is hurting Canada's economic interests. I suppose Bill Graham has a thing or two to teach Stephen Harper about how to be sophisticated in the face of the most vile human rights violations when there is something as important as money in the balance.

and just what do we think Harper is going to accomplish with his juvenile attempts at boosting his rating at home? Debate what the Liberals did all they like, but what is Harper going to do to force China to clean up their human rights abuses? I seem to recall criticisms of the Liberals when they raised human rights issues, but perhaps the Liberals, for all their warts, were far smarter in their dealings with China, and knew enough to understand that alienating them like a bunch of idiot teenagers would accomplish zip. Harper has simply shown he hasn't the smarts, nor the sophistication needed in a national leader representing Canada to the world. Maybe the tories are a better choice for Canada, I may grant that. But Harper (and his handlers), is an idiot.
