The Result Of The N,,,,, Word Spelling

I have always found it ludicrous when I have been admonished by message board administrators for using descriptive words and the rationale was that it was a "family orientated board" and children might be reading the messages. Pointing out to these people that any profanity I might have in my vocabulary can be heard coming from the mouth's of these "children" on public transit, malls, the street, etc. but protecting society seemed to be paramount. That is why I find Slotek's column amusing where we now have a discussion on the use of words like a......, f...... and there will a documentary on profanity but it will probably be restricted.
