I am sorry Rob but I think Mammolti has hit on something that is in line with Miller's new tax strategy.....offset some of the costs of maintaining the tranquility and elitism of the the squatters on the islands by isolating one of the islands and open it to private enterprise. The only reason Miller opposes the idea is that at last a fixed bridge will be built and this is the only election promise Miller kept.....

Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti is Canada's goofiest politician.
Dozens have sought the mantle: Who can forget the "Dar Affair" in Lethbridge, where a councillor claimed to have been kidnapped but actually ran off to Vegas with a married man?
Heck, Howard Moscoe challenges for the title just by being ... Howard Moscoe.
But with his act this week, Mammoliti is the clear winner.
By even mentioning Toronto Islands as a possible place for a "red light district," Mammoliti has shown he's been dislodged from the stripper's pole, fallen off the stage and landed hard on his forehead.
This idea is so dumb on so many levels.
Toronto Islands is one of the city's few real treasures. So let's ruin it, right Giorgio?
I used to live on Jarvis St., and can tell you many of the fine street walkers were picked up in cars.
On the island, no cars. But, lady in the stilettos and leather mini, your john for the evening will be happy to double you up on his bike.
And where are they going to "do" it? Well, there's always the merry-go-round, or the scenic train ride.
Hey, they could just hide in the bushes, or rent one of the fine cottages on the island.
For the adventurous, why not try to do the deed on the scrambler or bumper cars? Bonus points for degree of difficulty!
But stay away from the nude beach. Those guys have been minding their own business for years.
Mammoliti does have a modest point here.
Massage parlours are being legally run around the city, but enforcement levels are weak despite the fact the activities inside are often tugging at a lot more than sore muscles.
Basically, these spots might as well be called legalized brothels. Score one for Mammoliti.
But, in true Giorgio form, by bringing the island into the discussion, he looks like a boob.
Giorgio, why not set up the district at your favourite spot, the Toronto Zoo? The city already charges admission there, this could be a huge cash cow.
Of course we at the Sun love Giorgio because he speaks his mind, tells it like it is, can get up a good, fiery head of steam, is a quote machine, thinks outside the box and spends like his wallet -- actually our wallets -- is on fire.
For example, Mammoliti led the charge to up councillors' salaries, and topped it off with this gem when the idea of boosting salaries to $95,000 was being debated: "Not only do councillors deserve the money being recommended, they deserve more. Those that are rich and are millionaires on this council chamber floor and have the ability to get into your yachts and sail wherever you want in the world, you're the ones objecting to my increase."
His knickers went into a particularly nasty knot when another councillor dared to suggest dumping free coffee for councillors on the second floor of City Hall: "You can try to take away my coffees and my creams," Mammolliti said. "Go ahead. I'm still here. I'm still going to get re-elected."
Mammoliti has taken a stand on the island before, blasting the idea of a 1,000-metre-long nude beach on Hanlan's Point, calling it a "sex fest" and going so far as to take his shirt off for the media to prove how inappropriate an idea this was. Later, he changed his tune.
"For the first time in my political career, my judgment on the issue was wrong," he said at the time.
And once you pop your cork, it's hard to get it back in.
