Green P parking is on you Turns out Toronto's tree-hugging politicians like to drive -- and park for free at the city's lots By SUE-ANN LEVY
With the socialists busily snapping up $1 million in green electricity to power City Hall and new green vehicles for the city's fleet last week, I figured there might have been some red faces over council's use of Green P parking lots.

Encouraging socialists Re "Heading in wrong direction" (Sue-Ann Levy, Feb. 10): The Toronto Board of Trade's suggestion that the city consider implementing a 3% residential property surcharge (on top of the city's proposed property tax increase of 3.75%) is outrageous. For Board President Carol Wilding to recommend to Mayor David Miller and his band of tax-happy socialists the infrastructure problems facing Toronto be funded on the backs of property owners, who are already facing umpteen tax increases and/or new user fees, is infuriating and disappointing. Levy's conspiracy theory makes sense -- if the Board of Trade publicly favours more taxes on property owners, it takes the heat off Wilding's members as a source of additional taxation, and emboldens David Miller to levy more taxes ("revenue tools") on homeowners.
