I've never counted Peter King among my favourite American politicians because of his past support for the Irish Republican Army, whose barbarity reached a pinnacle the night they blew up two young peoples' pubs in Birmingham, England, my hometown. But the Congressman from New York undeniably saw the light about terrorism on September 11, 2001, and has since used his trademark outspokenness to great effect. Which brings me to what he is now saying in"> a YouTube-posted video about Michael Jackson.
As the ranking Republican member of the Homeland Security Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, King charges the focus on Jackson's death is over the top compared to the attention we give to the "great men and women whose sacrifices" in Afghanistan and beyond are actually making a difference. Only King, being King, uses more biting language.
