Raise wages cost of goods and services will probably increase wiping out any gain in wages. Simple economics. The secret is to increase the value of the services you have to offer an employer through increased productivity, higher skills, higher education, etc.

Premier Dalton McGuinty, Finance Minister Greg Sorbara and Progressive Conservative Leader John Tory all agree on one thing. The minimum wage should not be raised from $7.75 to $10. The three — along with dozens of other Liberal and Conservative MPPs — oppose today's proposal by NDP MPP Cheri DiNovo to raise the minimum wage from $7.75 an hour to $10.The Parkdale-High Park New Democrat's private member's bill to hike the hourly wage will be debated on second reading in Legislature this morning, but it has little chance of being made law.
