Gun problem 'serious': Poll But Canadians split on handgun ban

An increasing number of Canadians think gun violence is a “serious problem,” but a poll released Wednesday suggests an equal split over banning handguns.

The Angus Reid Strategies online poll found that 78% of respondents think gun violence is a big threat, compared to 76% four months ago.

The poll also found that 49% want a ban on handguns, a slight drop from the September when 52% said a ban would cut firearms violence.
