Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla has lit a firestorm of controversy in India. Visiting the Punjab region, she was the victim of theft, her purse being snatched by two young children. After being caught, the children were severely beaten by the police.

Another shocking case of police brutality has come to the fore. The Ludhiana police has thrashed two young children black and blue for attempting to steal the purse of a visiting MP from Canada -- Ruby Dhalla. The young children aged nine and five were beaten brutally and were shown no mercy by the police officials. Even their age factor didn't deter the Punjab police to beat them for a minor crime. The two children reportedly snatched Dhalla's purse from the sofa where she was seated. The purse had the MPs passport and her valuables in it.
My source advises that "it just made Mike Duffy, and Graham Richardson said that her staffers chased the kids down and handed them over to police for the ass kicking."
And she should know as the Opposition critic in charge of child care issues!
Update: Good points in the comments - this should mark the end of Liberal allegations about our troops turning Taliban detainees over to Afghan police, yes? If it's good enough for a 5 year old Indian girl...
