Defining Leftism.....Trivial

Kelly McParland: A way better scandal than any boring old thing happening in Canada

What is it with Canadian politicians that they can’t even generate a good scandal, when right across the border there are so many excellent examples of how it's done?

For those unfortunate enough to have been paying attention, Canada’s political fixation on the trivial has moved on from the absurdity of Ruby Dhalla's nanny and Lisa Raitt's lost tape to the utter vapidity of Toronto’s Pride parade, Stephen Harper’s Holy Communion practices and .. this just in .. the PM’s misguided blast at Michael Ignatieff for saying something he didn’t say.

Phew. So little of substance, taking up so much space.

Meanwhile, the U.S. is so rich in scandal -- real scandal, as in sex, lies and stupid excuses -- that perfectly acceptable outrages are getting all but overlooked. For example, we were all so mesmerized by the details of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s juicy affair with his Argentinian love-bunny that we almost completely overlooked the wonderfully ridiculous details of Nevada Senator John Ensign’s fling with the treasurer of his re-election campaign.

Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
