Just A Few Comments On Miller Time

My question is; "Why are they holding the meetings at Metro Hall instead of Toronto Silly Hall?"

Ontario governments are wimpy. Give them an ultimatum and if not accepted call in new workers.. There are plenty.. I cannot perceive the gall people have to strike in this economy.. it is similar to GM mentality. That is no way to get a country out of recession.

Remember what former President Regan.USA said to the striking air controllers."If you are not back at work 9PM on Monday monring than you are out of a job " ,They callled his bluff .He called theirs ..They lost . Those who who didn't show up were dismissed and were never rehired .
Unions have too much power, while taxpayers have less and less money to pay- subsidize workers demands .Thousands people out there would gladly take their jobs for less pay and reduced benefits

Why doesn't Toronto City Council have the guts to give them an ultimatum-
"Go back to work on Wednesday July 8th or your job is history and gone for good
.
Perhaps this would set a Canadian precedent for future unrealistic demands byunions

The contract ended Dec 31. The Mayor has finally realized these workers were without a contract. Why wasn't he whining in January instead of June? David Miller got his raise without hesitation and settled with the other city workers so why can't he settle with the garbage, recreation, workers so the city can enjoy the summer. David Miller has to go Toronto! Remember the stench of garbage when he's running for Mayor at next election! I don't agree that workers should be paid for up to 6 months of banked sick time but if they don't get paid out they will just go off work sick prior to their retirement date anyway. It happens all the time in government - not right but reality! Come on David Miller - quit whining and settle this strike!

Time to put the contract up for tender, let the union compete for the jobs.
One of his first acts when elected was to cancel private hauler contracts....at least the one in the old City Of York.

Miller has himself in a pickle this time.

Gave himself a wage hike, and now he can not understand the consequences when others want on the same bus.

One only needs to ask the question.....what has Miller done for Toronto ?????

The list has only one entry.....stopped the bridge to the islands that we can not get to any other way.....I'm proud.....what about you Paying off island squatters for their votes!

Translation for:

"There has been progress at the bargaining table this week."

Get ready to bend over once again taxpayers of Toronto, cuase Miller is going to cave in to his union pals once again.

If I had a reasonable knowledge of labour law I would attempt to organize a civil law suit against any union that witheld their services and put ordinary citizens at risk. I don't care about ferry service to the islands Miller made special arrangements, which you and I pay for, to transport island squatters but I get real upset when the city has a potential health risk on its hands.
