Right Approach

Signs that this may be a long one

The barbs are beginning to fly.

The sheer enormity of dumps at 19 parks around town, only 10 to 20 per cent full and big enough to hold a few weeks’ worth of trash, at least.

The mayor hopes...

That he hasn’t underestimated the resolve of unions to fight this one to the end. And that visible signs of a strike can be kept to a minimum – important if he hopes to keep residents, who are schlepping their refuse to city dropoffs, onside.

The unions hope...

That part-timers don’t start turning as the strike drags on.

Unions want to avoid

Being drawn into a PR war. There’s too much public animosity to win that one.

Worst precedent-setting scenario

The province is forced to step in and the whole mess heads to arbitration. No hard feelings, right?

Best-case scenario

A bolt of lightning shocks the two sides into the realization that there’s no winning without each giving up something. For the city, that means no taking away sick leave pay. For the unions, maybe lowering wage demands.

About Me

My photo
I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
