Waterfront Improvements Stalled.....

......and it has little to do with the island airport or the Gardner or the myriad of other excuses put forward by No Plan B Mayor Miller but rather his milking the media attention for his own political future. The Toronto Start alluded to this and I think this letter to the editor does so also.

ENOUGH ABOUT THE GARDINER

Re "Beyond the Gardiner," City, Aug. 31: Shut up already. Please just shut up about burying, removing, hiding or covering up the Gardiner. The Gardiner is a raised highway that is easy to cross under. The Gardiner is not a mental or physical barrier that is keeping people from accessing the waterfront. The only thing keeping people from accessing the waterfront is the fact that the waterfront sucks. Apart from the Harbourfront area, with its great outdoor concerts and marketplace, the lakefront is a horrible, depressing eyesore. Water that you can't swim in, wafting smells of sewage-treatment facilities and abandoned buildings.

Stop wasting money on proposals and government studies geared towards burying the Gardiner and start spending money on cleaning up the waterfront. Plant trees; create green spaces where people can picnic and take their kids to play; build a dedicated boardwalk that spans from the Beaches in the East to Humber Bay Park West. Once we have a beautiful, functioning, clean waterfront, people will use it. Build it and they will come.

About Me

My photo
I lean to the right but I still have a heart and if I have a mission it is to respond to attacks on people not available to protect themselves and to point out the hypocrisy of the left at every opportunity.MY MAJOR GOAL IS HIGHLIGHT THE HYPOCRISY AND STUPIDITY OF THE LEFTISTS ON TORONTO CITY COUNCIL. Last word: In the final analysis this blog is a relief valve for my rants/raves.
