The Flagrant Abuse Of Freedom Of Expression

The actions of a group of students at a Caledon East high school have been described in the following manner:

"The anonymity of online communications means young people feel freer to do things in cyberspace than they would elsewhere. But while students may be free to vent about individuals and school policies to each other, they do not have the unfettered right to post vindictive remarks about anyone on the Internet. Increasingly, email, instant messaging, text messages and photos from cellphone digital cameras can be used in destructive ways to denigrate, harass and bully others."

and this type of behaviour extends well beyond students and "childish school pranks" and I would hazard a guess that most of are guilty, to some degree, of similar behaviour....

Codes of conduct apply to Internet
