I have a simple solution. It won't cost you a penny and it can be implemented tomorrow....Close the underground parking lot at Toronto City Hall. The next step would be to start closing all municipal parking lots south of Bloor Street between Bathurst and the Don Valley. Next bring in bylaws to eliminate parking at all schools & universities. Once you have got the congestion and smog reduced in the downtown core you use the improvements to get McGinty & Harper to ban parking at all government facilities in the downtown core. LET'S STOP MOUTHING OFF ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO AND ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.

Tolls, parking fees among possible `radical' changes

Just a few feet below the mayor's office, there's a large poster in the foyer at Toronto City Hall that asks, "Who's the greenest of them all?"
It's a contest for residents to nominate people for the city's environmental excellence awards. But it could just as easily be a challenge for David Miller himself in the race to be seen as North America's most environmentally friendly mayor.
Miller last fall laid out a bold election platform, calling for drastic cuts in smog-causing pollutants in the city's atmosphere and greatly increasing the amount of recycling. His climate change plan will soon be going to the city's executive committee and some of the suggestions will be "radical," Miller told the Star in an interview.
The guy with the great hair talks a great game. But critics say that, so far, it's been mostly just well-meaning chatter. The Toronto Environmental Alliance, a group that should be in Miller's cheering section, gave the city a B-plus in its battle to fight smog back in 2004, the year after Miller took office. By last year, his third year in the chair, council's mark had slumped to a C-minus and the alliance was dismissing the city as lots of talk and little action.
His hair stylist probably knows more about what is happening at city hall than we do........
