Is Garth Turner joining the Liberals? Is Garth Turner a liar?

A couple of questions posed by Steve Janke. We have the answer to the first question and Steve supplies the answer to the second question.

Is Garth Turner joining the Liberal caucus? If so, what will Garth Turner have to say about this?

From CKNW News/Talk 980:

Former Conservative-now-Independent MP Garth Turner reportedly joining the Liberals.

I've always said floor-crossing is allowed -- it is a consequence of the sort of system we have. On the other hand, some people are quite against the idea of floor-crossing:

I am a democrat who believes everyone in the House of Commons, including the cabinet members who make up the government, should be elected. They should sit in Parliament as they were elected. If they decide to change parties, they should go and get re-elected.

Who said that? Garth Turner on his blog. Will Turner run for re-election? Hell no. I bet he'll make up an excuse along the lines that since he was ejected from the Tory caucus, he's free to cross the floor, even though his previous pronouncement on the subject said his re-election requirement applied to all members of the House, not just the ones in good standing with their parties. Politicians can rationalize anything.

But then maybe he'll surprise us all, join the Liberals, and immediately resign his seat to fight for re-election.
