A 17-year-old boy is dead and two others are in hospital after a triple shooting at a house party in the city's east end.

Police were called to a home at 53 Scarborough Heights Blvd., near McCowan and Kingston roads, just after midnight.

Two victims were shot in the chest and a third was hit in the leg, police said.

The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at hospital. The cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. He becomes the city's sixth homicide of the year.

The teen's identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

A second victim, a 28-year-old man, underwent surgery and remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The third victim, an 18-year-old man, is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.

Two male suspects were seen fleeing the home.

Those who attended the party are being asked to come forward.

Meanwhile, Durham police are investigating a multiple stabbing at a house party in Ajax.

Officers who were called to a home on Pickering Beach Road before 4 a.m. found two men, aged 19 and 21, stabbed several times. Both were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the incident appears to have started when several people tried to barge their way into the party.

Investigators have received little co-operation from the victims and ask anyone who hasn't already spoken to police to call Det. Const. Robin Roychoudhury at 905-579-1520, ext. 2534 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
