Where Is The Change McGinty Promised You

We won't even mention the broken promises, which was a big change from when Harris made promises, but the following is just another example of what it takes to provide leadership......

School budget hypoGrits
The Liberals chastised Ernie Eves' Tories over balanced books at school boards. That was then
By CHRISTINA BLIZZARD

Not that I'm being smug or anything, but I couldn't help a slight smirk when Premier Dalton McGuinty expressed his, "disappointment" with the Dufferin-Peel Catholic School Board yesterday.

On Monday, the province stripped the board of all power over its finances after trustees refused to balance the budget -- as they are required to do by law.

The province has appointed a supervisor -- oops an overseer -- to get the board back in the black.

Where have I heard all this before? Oh, I know. It was back under the Ernie Eves Conservatives, when Paul Christie was publicly flogged -- usually by Liberals -- on a daily basis for attempting to get the Toronto District School Board's $100-million deficit under control in 2002.

That was then, apparently. And co-incidentally Education Minister Kathleen Wynne was one of those pesky trustees who voted against balancing that budget back then. Now she's playing the heavy and sending in the cavalry to balance the books? Make that smug smirk a snicker.

A spokesperson for Wynne said these are entirely different circumstances. Sure they are. The Toronto board back then missed the mark by $100 million, while the Dufferin-Peel board is looking at a piddling $7.5 million -- with a projected $14 million in the hole next year.

Ernie & Mike haven't been around for a long time.....
