So, Al Gore’s house uses 20 times the energy of your house. His answer to this is to buy carbon credits as an offset. Do you know how to buy carbon credits? Does a carbon credit reduce consumption or merely shift the accounting?
As is typical of our “royalty” he’s not interested in cutting his energy use, just yours. Now, he’s entitled to buy as much energy as he can pay for but, his holier than thou pronouncements just grates on me. Turn off your lights, who cares if you stub your toe, peasant. Hang your laundry out to dry, unplug your dryer, Ms. Streisand would approve. Just don’t ask her to do the same.
Could there be any closer approximation to Marie’s “let them eat cake” line? It works this way Al gets to consume as much as he wants and you and I get to starve. Remember, John Kerry doesn’t own any of those SUV’s or the private jet his family uses. He’s just entitled to use them whenever he wants.
