Just asking and I see no problem with DiNova's request. For gawds sake some politicians, maybe more than most people, certainly need someplace where they can try to atone for behavior........

A New Democratic member of the Ontario legislature wants a boardroom in a remote corner of Queen's Park turned into a place where people can pray and meditate.

MPP Cheri DiNovo is getting ready to table a resolution on March 19 when the legislature resumes sitting.

DiNovo, who is also a United Church minister, wants Room 163 in the main legislative building to become an interfaith room which she describes as "a place for all people."

She adds that similar prayer rooms exist in most hospitals, airports and universities as well as the House of Commons in Ottawa.

Premier Dalton McGuinty is receptive to the idea, but said it is a decision for Speaker Mike Brown.

Brown told the Toronto Star he is "certainly open" to the idea.

Members of various faith communities have reportedly welcomed DiNovo's idea. Lama Tenzin Dakpa, a Buddhist monk, told the Star it "is very, very important to have a place for all the different traditions" to be practised.

Members of the Muslim and Sikh communities were also receptive to having a place of worship in the provincial legislature.
