Last week Michael Ignatieff suggested the "noble" puffin would make a good mascot for the Liberal Party of Canada. But would the puffin agree? What follows is the edited transcript from our interview with a puffin asked to comment on Mr. Ignatieff's proposal:

"You're from the Post? I was beginning to wonder if you'd show up -- seems like every paper with the budget to rent a dory has been out here to ask us puffins what we think about Ignatieff 's comments. Not too many of us are news junkies; you'd be shocked at how hard it is to get cable installed out here, let alone the Internet. Me, I try to keep up. God forbid a tanker should split open someplace and the first you hear about it is when your brother-in-law shows up covered in Quaker State.
