BREAKING NEWS

Hopefully when Chief Blair holds his latest press conference someone will ask him:

1) As of today how many of those arrested in previous raids were actually charged?
2) Of those arrested how many have gone to trial?
3) Of those already tried how many were convicted and what sentences were imposed?
4) Of those involved in today's raids how many have been previously arrested during other raids?

The police are doing their job and it is time we put the spotlight on the judiciary!

Police Conduct Early Morning Raids Across The GTA

Thursday June 19, 2008

Up to two dozen people have been arrested in a series of early morning police raids Thursday.

Officers from the Toronto, York and Peel region services as well as the OPP were among those involved in a joint task force carrying out the searches at about 40 locations across the GTA. They were being processed at Toronto Police 23 Division in Rexdale.

There's no word yet on what sort of investigation led to the individuals being taken into custody although it's believed Toronto's Guns and Gangs task force was involved. The targeted addresses included one high-end location in Yorkville. A 30-year-old man was taken into custody there.

Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair will update the case at noon on Thursday.

It's uncertain what charges if any have been laid yet.
