Sorry Royson But This Whole Issue Is An Indictment Of The Black Community

What it is saying is that black kids can't cut it in whitey's schools but there are black kids, I would say a whole lot of them, who do cut it and you have to wonder why.....could it be the lack of influence of the community and parents outside the school?

If your child is not motivated at school, losing interest, dropping out, failing at an alarming rate, you can argue for the status quo: "Do a little more of the same thing." And we already know the outcome will be more of the same thing. Failure.

Or you can push for something different, a new approach, even if it is radical and controversial and makes people uncomfortable.

That's where we are in the debate over black-focused schools in Toronto. Actually, there hasn't been much debate – only overheated reaction. Any race-based initiative is bound to engender and elicit hand-wringing, discomfort and even outrage.

There'll be charges of segregation from people whose claims only prove how little they understand the psychology and pathology of forced separation. And there'll be arguments that all we need to do is sit at the table of brotherhood, hug and sing Kum Ba Yah.
